Okavango Delta

The Okavango Delta is a unique, pulsating wetland located in the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Every year, floodwaters from Angola transform the delta into a lush oasis that supports a staggering diversity of wildlife. The Okavango Delta offers some of the best game viewing in Africa, with the chance to see elephants, lions, leopards, and the elusive sitatunga antelope. The delta’s intricate network of channels, lagoons, and islands can be explored by mokoro (dugout canoe), offering a peaceful and intimate connection with the natural world.

Moremi Game Reserve

The Moremi Game Reserve, encompassing much of the eastern side of the Okavango Delta, is a wildlife enthusiast’s dream. It was the first reserve in Africa to be created by local residents, the Batawana people, who sought to protect their land from hunting. The reserve’s varied ecosystems support a wide range of wildlife, including the Big Five and over 400 species of birds. Moremi is also home to Chief’s Island, the largest landmass in the Okavango Delta, which is renowned for its exceptional game viewing.

Chobe National Park

Located in northern Botswana, Chobe National Park is famous for its large herds of elephants, which are among the largest in the world. The Chobe Riverfront is a prime location for game viewing, particularly during the dry season when elephants and other wildlife gather along the river to drink. The park is also home to a variety of predators, including lions and leopards, as well as an impressive array of bird species. A sunset boat cruise along the Chobe River offers an unforgettable way to witness the park’s wildlife.

Makgadikgadi & Nxai Pans National Park

The Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans are vast salt flats that were once part of an ancient lake that dried up thousands of years ago. During the wet season, these pans are transformed into lush grasslands that attract migratory wildlife, including zebra, wildebeest, and flamingos. The surreal landscapes of the pans, dotted with ancient baobab trees, offer a unique and otherworldly safari experience. The Makgadikgadi Pans are also home to the annual zebra migration, one of the longest and most spectacular wildlife migrations in Africa.

Central Kalahari Game Reserve

The Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the largest protected areas in the world, covering over 52,000 square kilometers of the Kalahari Desert. This remote and arid landscape is home to a surprising diversity of wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, and oryx. The reserve is also home to the San people, one of the oldest cultures on earth, who have lived in harmony with the harsh desert environment for thousands of years. A visit to the Central Kalahari offers a chance to experience the solitude and raw beauty of the desert, as well as the unique culture of the San.
